Wells got all good news at his post-op visit today. The mystery mass was an ectopic cervical thymus, which means it was extra thymus tissue that he was born with. The thymus gland is in the chest and serves in immune function. Thankfully, Wells' thymus gland is in tact and apparently functioning fine, so he shouldn't miss the extra tissue. Maybe God thought he just needed a little extra boost to get him through his first winter as a premie. Thanks for all the prayers and concern (and balloons). We're so glad to have this behind us!
