the chase

Being the gentleman that he is, Wells always gives his sisters a head start when playing chase, especially when they're encumbered by their dresses and bows.

Wells, Wells, Wells

Wells and his grandaddy Terry.

Wells and his Daddy.

Wells and...well, shucks, you know who that is.

practice green

The kids took full advantage of having pristinely manicured grass to frolic upon at Bent Brook for the Greater Bham Auburn Club Golf Tournament. Daddy would like to blame the state of our yard at home on the watering restrictions, but we know better.

putting lessons

Hopefully Wells will have forgotten the bad habits his grandaddy is teaching him on the putting green by the time he has to count strokes.

suckers for all

To avoid showing favoritism, Mommy got the girls their very own big suckers.

If the picture is not telling you precisely what is happening here, allow me to ellaborate...Each baby was happy with their own sucker and Anne Lawson decided she would help herself to Wells'. He was obviously distrought about losing his sucker. Mommy asked Anne Lawson what was wrong with her brother. With the answer clearly in her right hand, A.L. pursed her lips and shrugged her shoulders in the most sincere way to indicate she really had no idea why Wells was on the ground throwing a tantrum.

the first haircut

It was "bye-bye" to Wells' long, flowing locks. He was having such a good time until it was time to get in the barber chair.

Mommy gets credit for saving the day and bringing a big sucker to distract Wells from the trauma of his first haircut. I think more hair clippings were stuck to the sucker at the end than were actually on the floor.

picture time...Holland

"Whew, all this posing for pictures is making me thirsty."

"I know I am not supposed to touch the flowers, but this rose is so pretty, is it okay if I just touch it a little bit?"

picture time...A.L.

Anyone want to match up in a staring contest with Anne Lawson? I have $50 on A.L.

"Daddy, how many pictures are you going to take?"

This look could be translated into a Roberta Flack song.

picture time...Wells

The distant gaze of an innocent young boy.

The focused stare of a little man that wants us to know he is aware of far more than we realize.

...and the sillier side of Wells.

suckers in the park

Wells worked his first blow pop like he was a veteran. Is it me, or does he look like a 5 year old in that visor?

Anne Lawson preferred to suck on the markers.

Holland learned quickly that once you grab hold of the blow pop, it is tough to let go.

art in the park

Owen and Rhys did a great job steering our big rig around Linn Park. The art was great, but we felt like most of the people were staring at us.
